Questions and answers
What do I need to get started?
A Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later (Apple Silicon or Intel), an active Apple Music subscription and a free Music File Lab account, which you create in the app.
How does the free limit work?
You can download 3 complete songs. Individual songs count, including those inside albums and playlists. The limit belongs to your account and your Mac.
Can I cancel Premium?
Yes, at any time on the Account page or in the app (Account → Manage subscription). Premium stays active until the end of the paid period.
Where do the files go?
To the folder you choose in Settings. The files stay on your Mac only — we never store or upload them.
What can I use the downloaded files for?
For your own private listening. Don't share or publish them — the rights to the music belong to its creators and publishers. Use the app in line with the law in your country.
Is the app safe?
Yes. Music File Lab is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without warnings.
